What are your social identities? What are your privileges? How do these make you who you are? And who would you be without them? This highly interactive, experiential workshop utilizes discussions, small group work, activities, and self-reflection. We will explore and challenge the value of our social identities and privileges, both in our daily lives as well as in the larger world. Focusing on Age, Race, Ethnicity, Orientation, Gender Identity & Expression, addressing multiple forms of oppression and privilege.

The ‘Diversity & Inclusion’ Elephant In The Room: A (Re)Focus On Basics

Many of us just don’t know where to start - or where we fit - when it comes to talking about “Diversity & Inclusion”. We have questions but worry we should know the answer or that we’ll be judged for asking. We focus on what we don’t want to say. And we often don’t say enough and/or don’t say anything at all. Focusing on language and terms commonly used with Diversity & Inclusion, though not always universally defined or understood.

Gender: Beyond [just] the Pink & Blue Elephants In The Room

Gender is front-and-center for all of us, all the time. While headlines, harassment, and hashtags bring our focus to gender-related issues over and over - if we’re only focused on gender due to disrespect and disparities, our deficit-based views will get in the way of true inclusion.
Move beyond binary basics & boxes to inclusion for people of all genders. The importance of gender --  why we need to focus on it, not ignore it. How our gendered expectations hinder performance and limit opportunity.

The Rainbow Elephant In The Room: LGBTQ Communities & Allyship

All people in our LGBTQ communities deserve inclusion, yet many of us get lost in the ‘alphabet soup’ of representation. Do you know who all the letters represent? How much do you know about LGBTQ history and culture? Are you actively inclusive and welcoming to all LGBTQ people? What is the role for non-LGBTQ folks as allies - and why are many of them falling short? Deepening understandings of gender, orientation, and the vital distinctions. Inclusion of all genders and orientations. Being an ACTIVE ALLY and why is it important.
