About The Elephant In The Room Diversity Trainings

“Elephant in the room” is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is going unaddressed.  It also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss.

Based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook, this further implies that people in the room who are not addressing the elephant have chosen to avoid the looming big issue.

The Elephant In The Room Diversity Trainings is committed to addressing these looming big issues.

Founder of The Elephant in the Room Diversity Trainings

Rich Russo is the founder of The Elephant In The Room Diversity Trainings. When we have an "elephant in the room” - we're not talking about a big, often obvious, issue.

Utilizing his expertise as a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), Educator, and Counselor - Rich has been educating and facilitating on issues of identity, diversity, inclusion, and privilege for over 20 years -- with a wide variety of experience working with groups across non-profit organizations, public & private schools, colleges & universities, detention centers, conferences, corporations... and, of course, a zoo!

The word “facilitate” means “to-make-easier” -- Rich is a facilitator in the truest sense. Rich’s experienced approach centers on building new, deepened understanding of the building blocks of diversity issues; moving into nuanced examinations of identity, and the ways this insight can have a positive impact on navigating diversity related issues and increasing inclusivity.

Rich educates and facilitates with the assumption that everyone is coming from a place of good intentions. And he works to exude and model acceptance and understanding as he approaches topics which can so often feel difficult.

Interactive, direct, and accessible. Dissipating the fear and silencing which often get in the way of truly exploring issues related to diversity.

Rich Russo & The Elephant In The Room Diversity Trainings remind us: We Gotta Talk.
